The U.S. Model 1866 Combination Tool was a modification of the M1855 tool for the M1866 Rifle Musket.  The open end wrench was designed to fit the nut on the breechblock hinge pin screw and the nut retaining the spring-loaded firing pin.  (See Gun Tools, p. 164)
